ABOUT ALOE
VERA
Most people know something about Aloe.
But few people understand that the pure
juice of the Aloe plant can be extracted
and ingested, producing a remarkable
range of positive health benefits. When
most people look at an Aloe Vera plant,
they assume it is a member of the cactus
family, but it is not. Originating in
Africa, Aloe is a perennial succulent
that is a member of the Lily (Liliaceous)
family and includes over 275 species.
The specie discovered by the Egyptians
and whose use has spread around the
world is now known as Aloe Barbados's
Miller. Aloe Vera can grow to a height
of more than three feet with leaves
weighing as much as two pounds (one kg).
The gel inside the Aloe plant is
remarkably similar to what we find
within our own bodies. The percentage of
water is virtually the same. Studies
demonstrate that Aloe Vera include such
organic compounds as glucose, proteins,
triglycerides, salicylic, acid, and
inorganic substances as sodium,
potassium, chloride, calcium,
phosphorous, magnesium and zinc.
Additionally, Aloe Vera juice is rich in
vitamins, including vitamins A, B1, B2,
B3, B6, C and E. Aloe Vera also contains
polysaccharides. Because Aloe Vera is a
tropical plant that is extremely
sensitive to freezing weather, it is not
widely grown outside the tropics. To
deliver Aloe Vera juice that contains
all of the natural benefits and
ingredients of fresh Aloe Vera to, areas
where it is not grown has required
special processes. |
